Getting a Nap out of a No-Napper

My 7 month old is crawling, standing and cruising. He will not fall asleep at the breast, or be rocked to sleep. When I put him in his crib (as I've been doing for months- it was the only way he'd fall asleep), he now stands up and cries. He took one nap yesterday. He's also sick with a cold, and I know that a nap would do him wonders. Oh, he's also large for his size, so he's outgrown the swing. The bouncy seat he can climb out of. I'm afraid to take him to sleep with me because he's so active and rolly-polly. Any ideas? I would really appreciate some help and/or a nap!

Give him regular paracetamol to help with his cold then put him down for his nap. let him cry for a while and keep going back into him, lie him down and leave then leave it longer before going back in. You could be doing this for an hour or so but he will eventually go to sleep. Establishing regular nap times is very important once he knows his routine he will fall asleep by himself and you will get a well earned rest.
