Getting organized!

I'm a stay at home mom right now, although I do babysit couple days of the week. I'd love to be organized and run on somewhat of a schedule, I think it would be better for me and my family, but as much as I want to I cant seem to! I find my self sitting around doing nothing either on the computer or even just sitting with my kids watching tv and can't seem to move! I could use some organizational tips! lol

I also find it hard to stay or get organized. I feel that I'm constantly doing the same thing everyday....laundry, cleaning, dishes... but I have found that having some sort of schedule for the day seems to help me stay on track. I started writing things that needed done, either for the week or day and prioritizing them. I will only clean either the upstairs or downstairs each day, dishes are done while kids are eating breakfast and I devote two days to laundry, typically Tues and Thurs...this way I don't get burned out. I also have a "20 second clean up" with my kids, I say ok 20 second clean up and sing a song while they pick up all their toys, the one who picks up the most gets a surprise...normally chocolate milk or a cookie, but it helps so much and they think it's fun!!! I also only let my 4 yr old play with one activity at a time, such as coloring, crafts, blocks, cars etc...I call it "centers" and he picks which he wants to do but we clean it all up and put it away before he may play with something else...kinda works

I'm finding myself forced to say that schedules are optional right now with a toddler and a 5 mo but routines are working out really well for me and the boys. I'm also trying to get into the swing of doing the FLYLady thing. It's a pretty nifty and very uplifting little thing. The website is: You may find 'em pretty interesting. :)

Either way, don't beat yourself up too much. It's a lot harder to be home with the kids then it is made out to be by the world at large. I'm working on being more tolerant with myself and how things are chaos around here right now. *hugs*
