Does anyone have an idea of the age requirements or number of kids you have to have to get your tubes tied in the UK?

Hey there Charlotte, I believe the age is 30 unless there are other circumstances to take into consideration. For example, medical, amount of children (and that includes step children), but bizarrely also includes the amount of children to different fathers. At present I have 2 sons by the same father and am 28 but am being considered for a hysterectomy which is a lot worse than sterilisation. My grounds are that I dont want more children and have a step son too but also have cervical problems and a background of depression so basically you have to put your case across no matter what your reasons or just pay to go private. Hope this helps x

Thanks ladies! I'm 26 and I have 5-year-old twin daughters from a previous mariage and a 2-year-old son with my current man. I'm british but I live in France and over here they won't do it until I'm about 45! That's why I'm looking into the possiblity of getting it done back home in the UK.

I don't think there is a minimum they are more interested in your age. Most ops will not be done under the age of 35 unless there is exceptional circumstances. If you are really adament that you do not want any more children and you are under that age they will try and fob you off with inplants that last 5 years. Don't rush into this decision as it can not be reversed!
