I went home to Australia in 2010 when my daughter was 2'ish. She handled the flight well. You will find they will sleep most of the flight. However, I didn't like doing this, but I gave the littlest amount of Benadryl when the tantrums came because of exhaustion and that made her sleep when she was just irritable and no luck to me walking her up and down the aircraft! Goodluck!

We flew from Sydney to London when my son was 14 months old and I was 5 months pregnant with my daughter.

I made sure we had a late afternoon/early evening flight so by the time we had eaten it would have been bedtime for him. It worked really well. All the excitement wore him out and he was asleep before we had taken off and slept for most of the flight. Same thing happened on the second leg.

I had prepared a drink for him for take off and landing and also took some lollipops in case he got restless.

Be prepared to walk up and down the plane alot.

We are going again at the end of March but this time with my son will have just turned 4 and my daughter will be 2 and a 1/2. I will do the same again.

Drinks or lollipops for take off and landing, lots of colouring in and activity books a favourite toy and we are taking our portable dvd player with a favourite movie. I am prepared for lots and lots of walking and will be taking plenty of snacks for them to have between meals.
