Good Intentions?

Has anyone else ever had someone do something with only the best intentions only to realize after the fact how not so good it really was. Example: My husband brought home an 8-week-old puppy. Kids were thrilled. But he neglected to realize how much of the responsibility landed on me. Now I have a 13-week-old puppy that I am still trying to house train, schlep with me and obedience train for the sake of the cats and kid's toys. He just realized why my stress level has almost doubled.

My goodness, poor you. We have 2 large outside dogs and 2 small children. I know how frustrated you are cause it is us mommy's that take care of everyone! Potty training a pet is exhausting never the less a child at the same time for me, anyway! I guess it depends on if your children are old enough to help take care of puppy? Maybe you could teach them how to care for their pet so it would not be so much on you. My 3 yr old girl will go outside and feed our 2 dogs on her own. She will also play ball and give out treats to whichever one brings the ball back and drops it at her feet.. cute. Now is the time for the puppy to learn tricks. When i potty trained our dogs i had a very long leash that i tied to a tree and they spent the day outside sometimes during the night as well but since its cold now, you may not want to do that. When they would go inside they got their nose rubbed in it and taken outside. it doesnt take as long doing it this way. As far as your hubby bringing a pet home w/out discussing it with you first, I would put him on night duty!! He would have to help out cause its his doing in the first place! lol Good intentions i am sure but he needs to feel some reprocussion as well! lol

Hope this is some help to you and your new puppy! Take care
