Thanks. I realize that once his head gets stronger that I will probably just put that soft seat in the front part of the cart but in the first few months it has been challenging! I think it does work at Target but not perfectly at Walmart...

l latched my first baby's on all the time, and l'm still putting my 9 month old babies' (twins) on, too, not both at the same time. They have never even come close to falling off. l think the sixth sense we have toward our babies keeps us so aware that if they did move at all, we'd know it.
Another problem with grocery carts is that kids want to stand in them. My husband started that with our now 3 year old. l make him stand with his back to the folded seat and then l put the 'seatbelt' straps around his waist. He's starting to get too big to do that, but even now he can't get out of the straps no matter how hard he tries. lf he can't manage to get out of it, there is no way he's going to fall out.

I have a graco seat too. I couldn't ever get mine to latch at kroger (grocery) or walmart, she was always practically upside down. The only place I got it to latch was target on the older carts (now they're coming out with different ones). It wouldn't even latch at babies r us! I just set her in the basket part.
Now, of course she sits in the cart and the new challenge is getting her to stay there!

I have seen this A LOT too! I didn't honestly read the instruction manual because they explained and demonstrated it all at the hospital before we left so when I seen all these people doing it I gave it a try... and it just seemed much to wobbly for me to feel very comfortable with it. I understand that it is physically impossible for one person to push a stroller and shopping cart at the same time so people are looking for a convenient way to get everything accomplished, but that's why they make the carts with the little baby seat now :)
