Grandparents and babysitting

[deleted account] ( 6 moms have responded )

We are going to visit my husband's parents this weekend with our new baby. Under previous (pre-baby) circumstances, his parents loved to talk with us when we stayed with them. We don't live near any family. Is it rude to leave the baby with them while we go out and do our own thing, even though we are technically visiting them?

let your husband ask.. they can be honest with him if they feel it is rude, seeing they are his parents. and just be prepared just in case they do not want to be left with the baby.

my partners parents live 300miles away from us & whenever we go down to visit them we usually spend the day in with them & maybe go for a meal but we always go out in the night & do our own thing, as my boyfriend wants to go catch up with all his old friends who he doesnt really see much anymore. we go to visit them every 4-6weeks & they are more than happy to babysit - Im sure they wouldnt even notice whether we stayed in or went out lol!

Most grandparents would love to look after their grandbabies. However, I wouldn't just assume that they would want to watch your child. I would ask them if they would like to watch your baby but don't make it a habbit out of going and doing your own thing. I would only ask them if they wanted to babysit once though since you are just visiting them. They would probably like to see you too. However, if they offer, there's nothing wrong with that. :-)

I think that depends on the grandparents....most grandparents wouldn't mind, they would just enjoy the baby more anyway.... jusy feel the situation out and see. maybe mention how you would love to go see ???? while your in town and maybe they will suggest you go and that they will keep the baby.....
