Happy birthday to me...I might have CANCER?!?!?!

[deleted account] ( 22 moms have responded )

REALLY!!!! Today is my birthday. I have 3 kids (4, 2, & 6months). After my son I had an abnormal pap...follow-up pap still abnormal, and then a biopsy which was normal. The lab went back and said the last pap was worse then they thought so they dont understand the biopsy. So now I have to go back and have a larger piece taken which will be done in a outpatient surgery room at the hospital. The nurse said they didnt see any cancer on the pap, but want to be sure. Cancer was never mentioned before. Just some strange cells that could have been caused by the pregnancy hormones. My midwife even said she doubted there was a reason to worry. And to boot my midwife is moving 3,000 miles away at the end of this month so I dont even have her to help me through this. Just a male dr who I dont feel comfortable telling personal things to. I have so much to do, and have been working on. I just potty trained my 4 yr old, I'm potty training my 2 yr old, and I'm teaching my 6 month old to crawl and talk, my relationship with my husband is perfect, we are starting the build on our house next month. My babies are babies! There has to be something wrong with their test. I'm only 25. Happy birthday to Mommy...I just want to cry.

My sister had a weird pap and it turned out she had small cancerous cells on her cervix. They had caught it early so they removed the problem cells and she hasn't had a problem since (that was 8 years ago). I too had a weird pap and I thought it was the same thing, but my next pap was clear. I am anticipating something to arise again some time in my life as this seems to be a family gene thing. I think as long as you are keeping up to date with your paps and they take it seriously (which it sounds like they are taking the right precautions) you'll be able to nip this in the bum before it is an actual issue. I'll pray for you too!

Maybe and i hope it's like me; abnormal cells that drs need to keep an eye on to avoid cancer; how often have you had pap smears during the last 3 years?

What you said it's TRUE! God DOES MAKE MIRACLES!

Here you have the Psalm 46 " GOD is our refuge and our strenghth, an ever-present help in distress. Thus we DO NOT FEAR, though earth be shaken and mountains quake to the depths of the sea, though its waters rage and foam and mountains totter at its surging"

Hi, i think you should not worry so much and just wait until the next test is done; i was in a similar situation almost 3 years ago and nothing bad has happened!

Happy birthday! Enjoy this special day with your husband and your kids!

Thats what i'm trying to do. If i sit and think then i worry more. Thankfully with the kids the ages they are I dont have much time to think.

Thank you ladies! i go back the 26th to have the second biopsy done. Hopefully they will have the results the end of that week! Trying to keep a positive attitude about it.

Thanks girls. I'm dealing a bit better today. I just wish the 26th would hurry up and get here. It also helps I'm not the only one who has had this sort of thing happen.

I've had an abnormal pap too. I had a biopsy and it was a "sit and wait" situation. The repeat pap was clean. I was 22 and about to get married. It is scary. I have learned a lot about cervical cancer from that situation. It is usually very slow growing and easily treatable. Follow up and go to your appointments. A lot of times these things turn out to be nothing and go away on their own. Hang in there!

I've had abnormal cells before and the doctors ended up scaring the crap out of me.

Don't worry, it's probably ok.

I have had 3 kids in 3 1/2 yrs so basically one at the begining and end of each pregnancy, so like 6 or 7 in 3 yrs I think. I had an abnormal on with my first daughter but by the end of pregnancy it was normal. I also had one when I was 18. I sure hope your right about that!

And THANK YOU! I read the Bible verse and started to cry. Its so true and what I needed to hear right now!

Thanks Crystal. I need all the prayers I can get. My family and I kept praying for the biopsy to be normal and it was....thats what I'm going to pray with this. God can do miracles, I believe!

Thanks! I would think if it was something as serious as cancer wouldnt I feel different? I'm doing and did better post pregnancy with the last one then my other two! I feel better then I have in yrs really. I'm trying to not worry. So not easy thing to do, but I'm sure things will be fine...I just keep telling myself that.
