Has anyone tried the Generic Organic formula from Wal-mart? How would you compare it to Organic Similic formula?

When It comes to formula there is a difference between them The Similac and Target brand generic are the same but the color and texture is a little off in the wal-mart brand and the same with the Infamil generic. I prefer name brand or Target brand over wal-mart brand one main reason is I just simply don't like supporting wal-mart. But I am switching my whole family to organic and I am using the wal-mart organic since target doesnt have an organic UGH!! and I can not afford the Earths Best or SImilac! . But I do not typically like wal-marts brand formulas but she seems to be tolerating the switch rather well.

I think my doctor put it best when I asked him if there was a "better" formula over one or the other... his response was "Different formulas are as different as Coke and Pepsi...not much at all".

The pediatrician on call at the hospital discharged us with these words (after baby was born):

" Here are some samples of Enfamil.  We recommend using this brand for your baby's feeding needs......" (then she leans over and whispers in my ear : " The wal-mart brand is exactly the same thing and a lot cheaper") .....and continues with her  ' our hosiptal only uses Enfamil because'  dialogue.

Essentially, the hospital was paid by Enfamil to promote their product.  I found out though, that all baby formulas MUST adhere to strict FDA regulations, and in essence are so minimally different in ingredient  that brand to brand there's not much difference except in texture of the powder.

If you DO switch to generic, the one thing that was suggested to me was to use 1/2 of what your baby is on now, mixed with 1/2 of the new formula (adding slightly more of the new formula each time, just in case there are any transition issues at all.  We never had a problem with that, but some children are sensitive to changes in their feeding.

If you read the label, all the nutritional values are pretty much exactly the same. They may be a few mg difference here and there. I use the generic stuff for my baby and it's actually easier on her stomach than the other stuff and it's almost exactly the same thing for half as much.

I use the Walmart Gentle formula and my baby likes it just fine. I also heard from a doctor that the generics are just as good. Might as well save yourself a couple of bucks!

i tried the walmart brand formula with my middle daughter, the powder doesn't seem to be the same thickness as the name brand. she would want to eat more often with that formula.

I tried it with my son. He seemed to like it just fine. I only supplemented with formula, so he didn't get it too often. I don't know how it compares in regards to taste, but the texture and mixing ability seemed pretty much the same.
