I am honest with my daughter and tell her "heh look it is either you take this or if you don't you will get really sick and wind up in the hospital and then it will really hurt. She then realizes and takes it.

If my child refuses something that he 100% needs, I am going to do whatever it takes for him to get it. Even if that means holding him down and having to comfort him as he crys because I know its best for him and the pain is much shorter time than the great effects of medicine. Letting them have a treat afterwards wouldnt hurt, not meaning just food but maybe trip to the park or doing somehting she really enjoys for the rest of the day.

Of course that she will refuse! She is 4. Sometimes as a parents we need to do thinks that we don't want, because it's for the greater good. She is not gonna be happy for little bit,but then she ll forget. Reward he with her favorite thing right after, such as ice cream or what ever that might be.

Good luck!
