I was scared that monsters would get me from a young age for some time (i took to sleeping in my brothers room). But my parents gave me a desk lamp next to my bed "for reading" and if I was scared I would just turn the light on and go back to sleep.

we had a "monster inspector" come and inspect our house before we bought it. any time our daughters are scared, we remind them about the inspector. it seems to make them happy. we also put a night light in the hall between thier rooms and if they managed to spend the whole night in thier own rooms, lots and lots of praise in the morning. its actually very rare for one of my girls to come down now as opposed to this time last year when everyone was in my bed. good luck and sleep well

Up until my daughter was four she slept with us. We moved into a new house where she had her own room so it was new for all of us. So here's what I did. First she had a nightlight lamp (lit up her whole room) even though she wasn't scared of the dark. In the beginning I read to her everynight and laid with her till she fell asleep. Eventually she was more and more secure so I was able to read to her kiss her good night and that was it. Its time consuming yes but so worth it now. She was in bed on her own when I had my second child.

My kids were the same way. I put a night light of thier favorite character. I also put a cd to play disney songs very low. It helped my kids to fall asleep fester in thier own beds, and stay there through the night. GOOD LUCK
