Does she roll onto her tummy by herself? Although the risk of sids does drop after 6 months it is still recommended that you place them on their backs to sleep. It's hard because you cant exactly wake them every time the roll, but if it was my child I would still put her onto her back to sleep and if she rolls I would just keep an eye on her to ensure she has her face to the side. My doctor recommended not using any blankets or sheets in my daughters cot, unless she is wrapped, he said that it is safer to dress them only in weather appropriate clothes or sleeping bags, even if you sleep them at the bottom of the cot because there is still a risk of the pulling them up over their head, especially if they are rolling over.

yes it is but i dont recommend it when they catch a cold or sick other than that it is safe unless your child has sleep apnea

It may be normal, but emerging studies are showing that some children lack the brain response to tell them to turn their head if they're not getting enough oxygen...and therefore suffocate. That being said, my daughter started sleeping on her tummy as soon as she could roll over and I can't wake up every single time she rolls over. I do however turn her over when I wake up if I notice it. (Her crib is in our room). Best of luck!

If she is flipping to her tummy on her own, she should be fine. Usually when they have the ability to do it themselves the risk of sids goes way down.

i disagree there was a mom who had kids that were old enough to turn their head and to her surprise the baby didn`t and sufficated. dont allow this to happen. protect that baby

The doctors and books tell you that it is bad. But both of my children did it and they survived. So i think it is very normal.

i agree with Ashley, once they are able to roll over on thier own, they will find the position they are most comfortable in. all three of mine liked thier bellies too.
