We had this problem with my daughter. She's a thumb sucker. We put ointment on it. (it seemed like every time I turned around at first) This cut down the behavior enough that the thumb had time to dry, off and on, and stopped peeling. Ointment is not yummy! lol

She still sucks her thumb but only when she is VERY tired and sometimes for a little while when she is falling asleep.

If the ointment idea seems a little icky, ask his doc. That's where we got our ointment idea.

Beyond that I'm not sure. Teethers maybe? I know he has all his teeth by now but at least they are meant to be chewed. Chewy snacks?

Good luck!
