Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can help my son from leaking through his diaper at night. He sleeps for about 11 hrs and I know that's a long time for a one diaper to hold all that liquid. I do put him in one size bigger diaper at night, but it still tends to leak through the top portion of the diaper. If anyone has any techniques that they can suggest I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

Babies R Us makes an insert that you can put into the diaper at night and its like adding extra padding. :-P I used them with my son and they work wonderfully! They are like $3.00 for 30 of them - not expensive and well worth the buy!

Yep make sure its pointing down and that when you fasten the tape thats it is also pointing down on an angle. I also put those plastic lined nappy covers on my son at bedtime. They are just cotton nappy covers lined with plastic to prevent leaks...works a dream.

Another thing you can do for boys is to pull there diaper up higher in the front. My son is a soaker, and when I don't have the Huggies nighttime diapers, then I try to make sure there is more in the front than in the back.

Quoting Hillarie:

Make sure he's pointing down. Maybe try a different brand diaper.
Maybe stop liquids about an hour before bedtime.

Those are all I can think of.

Hahahaha Nobody had told me this before my son was born, and it took me 2 weeks of wetting through before my girlfriend finally asked me if I had it pointing down. It had never occured to me. Thank-god for good friends and this site as well.

If your child is a heavy sleeper just change their diaper before you go to bed.  My son wet through his diaper too so I started changing his diaper before I went to bed.  Since I started to do that I haven't had any leak problems.  Plus my son really doesn't seem to mind it.  Sometimes he will wake up a bit but the moment I lay him back down he is out again.  I started when he was 4 months and he is a year now and we still havent had any leaks!

Nighttime diapers. Huggies make them. They start at size 3 and go up to a 6. They do cost a little more but you only need them for overnight. My son had the same issues and once we switched, no more leaking.
