Help, My 17 month old won't let me sleep!

I have 4 kids, and seem to have gone through all sorts of sleeping troubles and issues, but my youngest has me stumped. I have never been a fan of the CIO way, but had to resort to that with her because of my own health issues. When she was about 8-9 months old, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. About that same time, she was going through a phase of where she didn't want to sleep unless I was holding her. That didn't bother me at all, except, once I got my CPAP machine, she wouldn't sleep and thought my mask looked like a fun toy. I tried going with out the mask, but like most with sleep apnea, I would be incredibly tired all day, falling asleep during important times (like driving). I would also wake gasping for breath, and with chest pains. Reluctantly I resorted to letting her CIO, in order to be a better mommy in the long run. I would put her in her crib, and let cry for 5min, then I would go in, lay her down, cover her up, and go back the next time in 8 min. She honestly did very well, and never cried for longer than 10 min straight and it only took 2 nights, which was good, because it broke my heart. She was doing so good at sleeping, and for the most part would cry maybe once a night, and I would go in right away, lay her down, cover her up, and that would be the end of it. I wouldn't hear another peep from her. Now, about 2 weeks ago, she started a whole new thing. She would scream, I would go lay her down like normal, she would stop screaming (actually as soon as I opened the door to her room) and all would be quiet for 15 minutes, and I do mean 15 minutes exactly (I actually set a stop watch to it one night). Then she would start screaming. I would go in and lay her down, and she would be quiet for another 15 minutes. She does this for 2-3 hrs straight! I am getting so exhausted and at a loss on what to do. She has always been average when it comes to the amount of sleep she has needed for her age. Bed time in our house is 8:30pm. Then the kids all wake up between 7-7:30 am on their own. Then, she takes a nap around 11 or 12 in the afternoon and usually sleeps about 2-2.5 hrs, then is up til bedtime. With 4 kids, our days are very routine, and nothing has changed in the house. I just don't know how to stop this game (as it seems like it is to her) every night.

I would ask your Doctor for advice first just incase! It is so funny though how kids are so different from eachother. I know you have 4 and it might confuse you why she is doing something different that the others did, but it might be best to simply remind yourself that she is the baby and she is different than her siblings and is going to try different tactics. She will eventually grow out of it at least:o)

It must be a sign Katherine, I just found out at Walgreens this week, that if you buy 1 bottle at $4 you get $4 back in Register Rewards (so, it's like getting it for free). Guess it's a perfect time to try. lol

I might just try that, thank you. I hate giving my kids anything, even though I know that is all natural, but i am incredibly desperate for at least one night of sleep.

Umm try some Melatonin lol? It's all natural. I mean if you're that desperate....I have had to resort to it myself. I kind of felt like a bad mom, but I had to sleep!
