Help with Sippy cup

My son is 16 months and I want to break him of taking his sippy to bed because he is waking up at least two times a night because it is empty. Yes it is only water so I know its not a big concern, but I am 31 almost 32 weeks pregnant and I need to little sleep that I do get. Plus when the baby gets here I would like to not be staying up all night because he wants a sippy along with the new baby needing a feeding. It may sound selfish, but I know that he doesn't have to have anything at night. He has to have two diaper changes at night as well because he will drink the entire sippy before falling back to sleep. Can anyone help me? :/

Slowly give less and less water inititally, and let him cry it out when he gets up to get more. This sounds mean, but he has you trained! Of course he will cry for more if you go to him and get him more. It will take time, but he will figure it out. Also give him filling foods an hour or more before bedtime, like protein and milk.

I've never let my daughter bring a cup to bed so I've never had to deal with this issue. But if did have this problem I would give him a snack before bed and a sippy of milk or water and then not let him take the cup to bed. That's my 2 cents worth anyway. And I don't think you're being selfish I think you're smart to deal with this before your baby comes. Congrats by the way!!
