Hey everyone! New to this site, but here goes...wondering if any other 5.5 month old babies are down to 3 bottles on a 24 hr period? My daughter struggles with 4 (has been a bottle feeder and started fighting them at 3 months). On average she takes 20-22 ounces a day, but half the time a struggle. Was thinking if I dropped her to 3 maybe she would be hungrier and eat better and more?

Also forgot to mention she has 1 solid feed of infant cereal/fruit for breakfast, sometime eats well other times not...

Exactly! My son hated formula too (can't blame him). We even tried vanilka in the milk (nurse's advice) - nothing worked. Once on solid food I switched to cows milk (although doctor insist in formula until 12 months). He started drinking 40 oz per day!! Today he is 8 1/2 and plenty healthy!

She is on fast flow. I tried switching bottles and nipples too, nothing helped...someone once told me it could be the taste of the formula but gonna wait til I see her dr and talk to him before making a switch.

Stop worrying, if it wasn't enough she wouldn't gain normal weight. Don't forget to wait 2 days in between each new food you introduce :)
If she fusseson cereals try new kinds, my 5 months old fusses too. Maybe make them more liquid, or put some more milk in it (good way to make them take more).

Other question, what's the flow on her bottles?

I think I'm just gonna experiment with her menu! Lol. Try out dropping to 3 bottles and like you said add a supper with some veggies, hopefully she responds well! Can be frustrating some days worrying if they are getting enough...thanks for your advice!

I believe fighting won't give results. I have 4 kids....find a compromise so meals are enjoyable for both of you. I suggest feeding cereals morning and evening, as well as Starting veggie introduction. Afterwards, fruits and last, meat and when established, remove evening cereals to replace by meat. Normal meal should be, once established, morning cereals, lunch veggie, meat and fruits, evening veggies, meat and fruit. Do you have the solid meal introduction list? Never force feediny, it won't give good results

She is growing very consistently, 50% in height and weight since birth. Health unit has told me she is doing good, they also advised I try and offer more solids with the way she struggles on the bottle. Paranoid mom tho...worried she won't get enough fluid and nutrients with dropping intake of formula before 6 months. I'm thinking she doesn't care for liquid diet! Do you think I should try 3 bottles and add another solids meal?

Hi! Well normal feeding of a 5 months is any where from 18 to 36oz a day. Maybe she doesn't like formula? My 2nd one was barely taking 10 oz a day. I put him on solid food quickly to compensate in nutriments and eventualy cow milk. I figured 40 oz of cow milk was better than barely 10 ozof formula. There is no exact science every baby is unique...does she gain weight good?
