i did already try potty training i would put him on the potty every 45 -min to an hour but i stopped i did this when he was ten months. i would like to try again now that he's a little older does anyone have any suggestion. my mother in law who might i add had both of her sons potty train by 9 to ten months bc they were walking at 8 months. she suggests that i bring the potty in to the bathroom and when i have to go sit him on there and pee with him so he could get the idea.. inputs would be wonderful thanks ♥ liz p.s i know its really early to start by hey it wont kill me to try....

Speaking from experience.. if you try to soon it will make you frustrated and then it will stress your child out an they wont potty train. He has to be showing the signs that he is ready to begin and 12 months is just to early. Most children are not capable of controlling the muscles necessary to use the potty till age 2 or 3 its different for each child. My daughter is 3 1/2. I have been potty training her for over a year up until recently she could not control the muscles she needed. But now she is almost completely potty trained after only 3 weeks. But if you insist on trying then i would suggest to either take him in the bathroom with you or leave the door open when you go so he sees you. He wont get the concept until later but its a start. Get him acquainted with the potty letting him sit on it but don't force it. If he wants to get up let him because he will grow to not like it if you force him. Keep it short and fun, sing a silly song. Just don't rush it, I made that mistake once. The reason for potty training has to be for him and not you (i.e not wanting to change diapers anymore.) But most importantly he will when he is ready. And when he is ready he will shock you because he will just up an go one day an that will be that lol.

the one thing to remember is to not get frustrated.... i started my son at age 2. he will be 3 next month and he still has no intention of using the potty. i have tried everything! when he is ready, he will do it. just take it one day at a time.

my friend started potty training her baby right at the hospital it is a method called diaper free and it is common in third world countries look into it some of their techniques could be helpful to you.
P.S. My friends daughter was potty trained by 6 months.

If he is interested then go for it. but learn the sign for potty and help him learn it too and what it stands for. It is also different for every child. So I say go for it. Try it just don't get stressed out. and if your son is walking then just let him try it and I agree with a potty in the bathroom with you and he can sit on it when you go and learn that way too. have fun

you go girl, your mil is right this is a good method I also leave my little girl naked so she know when she goes but this can be a bit messy. teach him the sign for toilet if he can't say it. I keep potties handy so one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom and another one were she spends most of the day. Good luck
