Hi Moms! Does anyone have any experience with having a pregnancy in their 40s?

I have two healthy children - ages 9 and 11 and I've always wanted a third child. Unfortunately, too many of "life's issues" got in the way since my last child was born. Now, my husband and I find ourselves in a financially more secure and stable situation. I realize that time is running out but I desperately want this third child. Although my husband has valid concerns about our ages and the health of the baby, he is willing to go along with me as he can see this is what I truly yearn for. This would be a normal, straightforward attempt (no invitro, no donor eggs).

Would anyone know of a woman in her 40s who successfully gave birth to a healthy child. Time is not on my side - I am 47 years old but regardless of age, my desire to mother another child is intense!!

Thanks so much!!!

Thank you, Sarah,

Thank you for your positive message. It has been very disheartening to hear the doctors' statistics and read about all the warnings on the internet. I realize the doctors have the patient's best interest in mind, but if I had listened to all the warnings when I was pregnant at 36 and 38 (unknowingly, with two healthy boys) I would have been scared out of having them!! I just don't know if I have "the right" to play that "Russian roulette wheel" again!!

I know that I am approaching peri-menopause (I have certain signs and symptoms) but there are also days when I literally feel like I'm in my twenties and I feel good and healthy (and ready to try again!!)

I just don't want to regret my choice...it is a lifetime choice if the baby will be unhealthy! I guess I'll leave it in God's hands - he knows what I can handle!

Thanks, again!!

Marilyn

p.s. if anyone else would like to comment on their own experiences or someone they know, please feel free (all INSPIRING stories are WELCOME!!)
