I have a 13 months old daughter. She was born on december 17, 2008. She is a very high need baby. She wants me to pick her up whenever i am standing, She likes to play with toys only if i am sitting nearby, She sleeps in my bed, and she do not like to go to anybody except her dad. I am a stay at home mom so i am available for her all the time and if i am not in sight then her dad has to be there for her otherwise she will cry so hard. What i want to ask is anybody have a high need baby like mine? If yes then how do you deal with it???

My daughter is only 6 months but she is a high need baby. She sleeps with us and won't sleep long unless she's in the bed with us, though she's getting better, and she won't let me husband hold her at all. I know your daughter's older but I carry her in the sling if I need to get stuff done. I also read Dr. Sears book on high-need children. I found some of the stories to be a little extreme but that may help alot. It helped me change by attitude about how to handle things and deal with her. I can swaddle her to lay her down for a nap and I juggle the time between doing house work and taking some time for myself. Alot of times I find myself running out of things to do with her to occupy the day. Hope that helps. Oh and lastly I only talk to people that I feel will understand about how my child is not people that are going to be negative about me, my child, or how I handle my child. That only makes things worse for me.
