yeah don't jump to the medication, its all in your diet. eat lots of veggies and fruits mostly greens and tons of water. seriously, lots of water. your stool is the story of your health and it tells you everything about your diet. also if you have dairy in your diet then grab some probiotic yogurt, or check out the health food store for some probiotic supplements. probiotics are safe, all they do is replenish the healthy bacteria in the digestive system to promote soft regular poops. papaya is good too

Oh, something else that works well is to drink two of those energizer vitamin C packets. I can't remember what they are called exactly. It's the powder and you mix it with water. Two of them work because overdosing on Vitamin C (this will not cause you to overdose, two packets is not much) causing diarrhea. Anyways two packets is usually enough to get things moving.

What I do, pregnant or not, is when I wake up in the morning I drink at least one glass of water, then I have my usual coffee and an apple. Usually that is enough to get things moving again! When it is more severe and that doesn't work I have found that if I cut my portions back and make sure I am drinking more water than usual everything clears up in a couple of days. I would say that I probably cut my portions back about 30% maybe, that is something you just have to figure out for yourself. I think my system gets backed up when I am eating more than I should be. I am also on medications for mental health and they contribute to constipation. The above has worked for me for years.

I am currently going through this. Each more fiber, more fruit and green leafy vegetables, colace (to soften), I was told that I can take magnesium pills because the loosen stool as well (but I also use it for migraines), prunes, dates and prune juice, and walking for 30 minutes a day.

Colace (docusate) is pobably the safest medicine choice, but it's more of a stool softener than a laxative, won't make you go but makes it easier to go ... Also glycerin suppositories or a mineral oil-based enema would be a safe alternative if it comes to it

Well whatever you do just ask your doctor first. Don't want anything that will hurt the baby or make you sick

I think colace may be safe to take but not sure. There are also natural Senna vegetable laxatives for children that you could take. :

My doctor just suggested upping my water intake, getting out and walking to get things moving, up my veggies and also another thing I did do was take a teaspoon full of dark karo syrup. That really gets things moving without taking medication
