How can I get my almost 3yr old excited for the potty?

This is driving me crazy. My little boy doesn't even want to sit on the potty for 5 seconds. Rewards don't work either. I tried fruit snacks today. He wanted some, so I said if he sat on the potty...He proceeded to have a mini fit, and the whole time I had him on the potty he was wanting off. He'll go in and watch his Daddy or big brothers, and this summer he would take his diapers off outside when he saw his big brothers going by the tree in the backyard; then go stand by the tree, too, and emulate them. I don't think he actually ever went, though. He shows all the other signs of being ready to use the potty. I think I should just keep up with putting him on it and counting to ten until he gets used to it. But how long should I try that? Should I do it every couple of hours, or just in the morning for his first diaper change? It would be wonderful if I could get him out of diapers because we have a almost one year old in diapers, too.

We found the best way to potty train our boys, we bought a potty that makes noise when they pee in it and then let them choose where to put the potty, he chose in the lving/play room, then we put him in real underwear during the day, he loved having the potty there he didn't miss what he was doing, he could still read, or watch a cartoon, we had only a few accidents and he quickly decided he didn't like being wet when he peed in his underwear, after a few weeks, we moved the potty in to the bathroom and then a few weeks later we got the little potty seat for the toilet and a stool. We have told a few friends how we potty trained our oldest and it seemed to work for them :)

have you tried the sticker reward or stars?
Have a calander set up and gets a star when he does it. And after so many stars gets a special toy.
Have something in the pot to pee on.
Let him know that we have to send it to the wee farm or the poo farm.
If its not working now wait a while and try again in a few month.

Mine trained late. not until they were 4. I had 3 in nappies then.

There is no need to do anything they will do it when they are ready to , you will be surprised when they wake up one day and say " mom i want big boy underwear that's what my three year old did granted we still wore pull-ups at night just to be safe for a while

I have not had to do this yet, so I have no experience with this theory, but this is what I will do when the day comes. Buy one of those dolls that "pees", and dress it with a diaper. Get your son involved and put the doll on the toilet to pee. When the doll does his business, make it a HUGE deal! Put on party hats, use noisemakers, jump around, and make it a party! Say what a big boy the doll is. Repeat this a few times throughout the day, letting your son know he could be a big boy like that too. It won't hurt to give him lots of liquids, and make sure you ask him often "do you need to go?", that way you won't miss out on a good opportunity. When he finally decides to use the toilet, celebrate!! Make this celebration nothing short of the celebration you had for the doll, and he will feel that he is doing good! Hope this helps!

Don't push to hard, my daughter did it when she was ready and we only had 1 accident, that is it. We found a treat that she never was allowed (chocolate) worked, we gave it to her once after went for the first time and she never asked again for chocolate, but she had for months being sitting on the toliet, doing the whole thing except for actually going, so we just went with it and one day out of the blue offered the treat and that was it.
