How can i help my daughter do better with her tummy time?

My daughter is not where she should be with her strength in her arms and neck. My husband and I have her do tummy time 3 times a day for 20 mins. but she is still not using her arms to lift up. Is there a trick to her doing tummy time?

My daughter hated tummy time...everytime we put her on her tummy she would scream and scream so we just stopped doing it. She never crawled either...just did a bum scoot sort of thing. She's 18 months now and is perfectly just took her a little longer than her older sister to get around.

She will do it at her own pace all you can do is put her down for tummy time...Eventually she will just one day love tummy time and play to her lil hearts content..My daughter hated it at first but, soon enough thats all she wanted to do..

I bought a toy called tummy time from walmart, it could be set up above or on the floor, my son who is now 3 and a half absolutely loved it and it worked, i couldnt get him off his tummy when it was within sight

Laying on your back and putting your baby on you, tummy to tummy worked well for me. My little girl hated tummy time too but, she enjoed laying on me.

Mine hated tummy time too. I had a doctor tell us it was very important so we tried hard, but after a few seconds she would cry and we thought that that wasn't good for her mentally. We have a "blow up" bed. We discovered that she would do tummy time the longest on the bed. So maybe the floor is to hard.

However, she still didn't do tummy time alot, and then all of a sudden she did it. So don't be to discouraged, a little bit at a time, I just try to remember how hard it is for me to exercise....

My dd hated tummy time too...but i just got on the floor with her and she (after a week or so) did a lot better! So that's my advice, do tummy time with her!!!!

My daughter also hated tummy time, until recently. She's 10 months old now, and has been going from a sitting postion to down on her belly, but she's only happy when she puts herself into this postion, not when I do it. She still hasn't crawled yet, but I'm not that worried.

I'd definately try going tummy to tummy with your LO. That's the only way she really liked tummy time when she was younger.

Use brightly colored toys or toys with music to get her attention, putting them close to her at first and then moving it further and further away, so she has to lift her head to see it and stretch her arms to reach it. Doing that will make her use her neck and arms and that will make the muscles in both stronger. You have to find a toy that she really likes so she will stay interested and want to get to the toy. Hope this helps good luck!

Lay on your back and put her on you tummy to tummy. that way she has something to look at that she enjoys. Also you can lay on your tummy facing her on her tummy. Again then she can look at you, but she will have to lift her body up to see you. My kids all hated tummy time. I was lucky to get them to stay on it for 5 minutes at a time. But they all figured out how to use their arms and necks just fine. None of them had flat heads from laying on their backs too much. They all liked the excersauser and jumperoos. That strengthens their necks too. And reaching for tyos works their arms.

what worked for me waw rolling up one of her blanets tying each end with a hair tie and placing it under her chest behind her arms. its smaller than a boppy and really helped her get the feel of her hands, now at 4 mo. she is pushing herself up constantly and when i sirt her on her bottom she leans forward held up by her hands hope that helps, it all depends on the baby tho lol

Every baby is different! My son did not like being on his tummy! I did the same as you. I used a boppy to give him tummy time. and put little toys to look at in front of him and played with him and helped him use his arms and neck! I remember those days and I miss them so much! my son is 2 now! have fun and enjoy! also my son did not want to crawl until he was 8 months and then a month later he got up and walked! lol like is said, every baby is different!!

There really is no trick, but try one of those playmats/gyms. That came in handy with both of mind. You can get one at Wal-Mart. Hope this helps.
