I have an 8 week old baby. He was very mucusy when he was born. we treated him with saline and a nose pump. the gurguling sound has finally gone away. as of the last 2 days he has become fussy when i give him his bottle and he seems to be congested but not stuffy. i find that when he cries he's been crying differently and at times when he cries it sound like he is losing his voice. i can also hear a difference when he breathes. i put my ear to his chest to see if there was any weasing and there isn't. it really seems to come from the nose and throat section. he isn't running a fever nor is he fussier all around. he's still smiling and talking and very awake. i don't know what to do. can any one help? plz

My sons had mucus type sounds/coughing/breathing at a very young age. We were told to use a cool mist humidifier, which worked a bit but more so when they have colds now.
We did though determine and then had doctors backing that our twins were lactose intolerant and that may have been the cause. We changed their formula to Alimentum (smells gross but they loved it) and within a couple days the mucus type symptoms were gone.
Might not be the answer you may have been looking for but it was just my personal experience and maybe it may help.
Good luck to you
