How di I teach the kid to swim?

My two have just learnt, I think they need to pretty much figure it out for themselves but found that getting them to lie on their front with me supporting there belly in the water is a good way of getting their confidence up, and it also gives them an idea of what their supposed to do, try and help them relax in the water as some kids are scared of gong under, to be a confident swimmer get them used to going under, if they're big enough get them some goggles and take something like a toy that wont float and get them to look in the water for it with the goggles. It took a while for mine to learn though one day we went to the pool and all of a sudden they could do it! keep reasuring your lil one/s and he/she will soon master it! good luck!! x

Hi Serina

I think the best way to teach children to swim is with the water wings.. My 20 month old uses them very well and now she is starting to stay above the water without them..

how old is he/she? i've been taking my son (who is 2.5 now) swimming since he was 4 months old. he can doggy paddle and we're working on floating now. i am also going to put him in a swim class next year. (they start at ages 3 where i am)
