My daughter is 4 months old and has just started eating with a spoon. Any tips on making it more successfull?

4 months is really young. I didn't start feeding my kids "food" until about 6 months. They don't get a hang of the spoon thing for a while. You can give her one spoon for her and then feed her with another one.

Have you tried opening your mouth too (really wide), to try and get her to mimick you and open hers? that helped w/ my kiddos, good luck!

Ditto on Stephanie's idea. I think I used to open my mouth without even thinking about it when I fed my babies. I did the "airplane" game too and said, "Mmmm, mmmm! Yummy, yummy!" ALOT!! : )

Monica, no i dont mean she feeds herself LOL. sometimes i wish she did though. She's got a VERY powerful suck so she pushes back on the spoon really hard. i was wondering about how to get her to open her mouth and accept it.

Kassi, thanks for the tip. i do have some of those kind. i like the fact that they change color if the foods too hot.

my son took to it pretty easily so im not sure if i can help much. but i found it a lot easier to get him to use a spoon when i had the ones that r rubber and plastic. like its plastic but has rubber in the center so it isnt hard on their gums plus he likes to chew on it when he is teething. so my advice is to try the ones that have rubber in the middle of the spoon. i cant remember what they r called but i do know that they r the ones that change color if the food is to hot!
