Amy for you good chance she can for go that bedtime nursing..she is probably just using it for her security blanket of sorts...Try a bottle of water and see if that works..My middle son wanted his water bottle yet never drank it it was there for secutiry reasons.......I was still doing unscheduled nursing then too but I knew breakfast, nap supper and bed they nursed..my daughter nursed more when she was teething it took away the pain...You can always give her somehting of yours to sleep with also and if she isn't screaming when she is waking then let her calm herself down ..

Oh I know that cup thing..We tried every nipple, every sippy cup and every cup we could find..it took 2 wks before she found something she liked...she ended up with a bottle but never had it at night or walked around with it..she knew it was when she was eating...good luck..

Awesome! I'll try that. It will have to be a sippy cup though. If you can imagine what our lives have been like for the last 14 months, my daughter has never taken a bottle & just within the last 4 months has started drinking from a cup. Talk about nerve wracking! But we got through it & I feel good about sticking with it for her sake. I'm going to try the cup AND something of mine to sleep with!!! LOL! Thanks for the tips!

I'm in the same boat! My daughter is 14 months old and still nursing. She doesn't have a set nursing schedule anymore, it's more like just when she gets sleepy or bored. She has not slept through the night but a couple of times so every night I am up with her at least once but most nights 3 or 4 times. I'm not against weaning her but at the same time, if she's not ready to stop I don't want to traumatize her either. I am her security blanket sorta. :) Anyway, if you have any luck, let me know what miracle you found! LOL!

Why do you want to stop?

Nursing is the one thing that no one else can do with your child.

That being said..wean him from one feeding usually the breakfast one first and give him either a cup or bottle or sippy with his breakfast..do this for a bout a wk..then the lunch or nap one..I would wait for the bedtime because its usually their favourite one...

I nursed my last for 3.4 yrs with my last..

Remove a feeding every few to several days. It's not so stressful for all involved and less uncomfortable for you specifically. If you go cold turkey, expect some leaking and engorgement discomfort.

If your child is only feeding once or twice a day and is not that interested in it, just stop.

Hope that helps.
