I've heard if you have to pay, it's not legit. Please help. Thanks!

I don't know if this is true, but I've also heard that people often avoid working with 2 year olds. They tend to use older looking babies and younger looking preschoolers to avoid the terrible twos if they can. A friend of mine who was involved in the industry also told me once that the personality of the child was very important - they looked for kids who could handle waiting around, were really good at following instructions, not put off by people they didn't know, etc.

I am the mother of a girl who started modeling when she was about 15 but is out of the business and in college. It is true that if you have to pay, then it is probably fake. I can't speak for the toddler set but that is true for the teens and adults. Overall nothing about this industry is worth it. Even if you land a gig that would pay $800 for the day, you will probably be on 10 different casting calls for every one job. That means you are making about $80 for every day you are inconvenienced. Additionally, why would you want to hang around in waiting rooms for hours on end with a 2 year old? How can that be good for the child or yourself? The energy in this industry is shallow, mean, and competitive. It's a horrible scene and I am glad my daughter came to her senses before she went to the dark side.

Thanks for the replies. I was just curious. Ya know, when total strangers come up to you & tell you how adorable your daughter is & blah, blah, blah....it gets the wheels moving. Especially when you see that your child is just as cute as some of the kids that are modeling already.
