How do I keep my 3yr old son entertained indoors when it rains for a long period of time?

I have lots of toys and paints but after a while my son gets bored & needs something fresh & new to entertain him when it rains for long periods of days. He loves outside...any ideas?

My nephew (2 1/2 yrs, I watch 5 days a week) LOVES making a band! We put beans in paper plates stapled together for a tamborine, a pot and a spoon make a great drum, a toilet paper tube with holes drawn on it makes a great pretend flute etc etc. Also, if you have an under the bed plastic storage tote, you can fill it with sand, sugar, rice or beans, give him some kitchen utensiles and it's like a sandbox indoors...I put mine in the middle of a vinyl tablecloth so that clean up is easy!

If you need additional ideas, you (and anyone) can check out my community: SAHM'S are Teachers! We swap fun and educational ideas for activities to do with our children. I hope you look us up! Good luck with you LO!

Have you tried a scavenger hunt? When my daughter was 3, we had indoor "camping trips" during the day, making tents or forts with blankets and pillows. Hide and seek is fun too! I hope that one of these will work for you!

I remember building forts out of blankets & couch cusions or you could use cardboard boxes from bigger items like washers & dryers! Hide & seek is a great game if you have a little bit of room. Coloring, playing with playdough, or if you're feeling crafty you could make your own playdough! maybe you could get a few activity workbooks & have him work on his abc's or counting or writting or reading...

My kids enjoy hands on activities. Making cereal necklaces, edible finger paint, some days I can even get them to help clean. Through my cable company we have ondemand and when they need to calm down, I play a kids yoga video for them.
