I totally understand! From the time my son was brand new he has needed to be where I am, be held, or have interaction with someone or something (he is 4 now). I was totally overwhelmed with trying to get anything done. I tried keeping him in a bouncer near me, playing music, and putting him in the bouncer in front of Baby Einstein videos. Without Baby Einstein I never would have been able to shower for the first six months of his life.

When I got pregnant with my daughter and I started having complications I began to realize that it was totally impractical for me to try to keep up with everything. So, I would find one thing to focus on around the house each day and learn to let other things go. For example, one day I would conquer the dishes and the next day I would tackle the laundry. On another day I might get the kitchen cleaned, whereas on other days the bathrooms were cleaned. When I focus on cleaning one thing or one room around the house (I still try to do this as my children are in the toddler stage, past the infant stage) I find myself feeling like I have accomplished something and I still feel like I have time to spend with my kids.

It's tough, and I totally understand where you are coming from.

Have you thought about wearing your baby? My son is the same way-he loves to be held. I put him in a sling and wear him while I do stuff around the house. Added bonus: he always falls asleep in there so I have a chance to eat and read or whatever. As far as getting motivated, sometimes I set a clock for like ten minutes and I do whatever I can in that time frame. You'd be surprised at how much you can get done in short time frame. I also listen to music when I'm cleaning b/c I tend to get more done that way. And you don't always have to be in the house-I know sometimes I feel so claustrophobic in here so I'll go sit on the porch or take the kids on a walk. \

Hope that helps!
