I would just keep doing what you are doing. Praise her when she goes in the potty, but don't worry if she does not go. Right now she is just learning how it all works. She is in those beginning stages, but it might be months before she is ready for the next stage of really trying to have her sit and go. My best advise is that it is a journey....it does not happen overnight. It is much like a child learning how to walk.....first they have to figure out how to sit and balance then it is learning how to stand holding onto things, then they get to standing and balancing on their own. Once they get all that then they start to learn how to walk along things and then on their own. It takes many months for this process. That is true with potty training as well. First they figure out that you sit on the potty to go potty. They sit but don't go. Then they start to figure out when they pee and poop....usually telling you AFTER they do it. Then after awhile they start to learn how to use their muscles to control when they go. It all takes time and just like walking some kids do it sooner or faster then others, but do eventually get it.

I know from experience that until they are completely ready it will be a battle. I suggest keep putting her up there whether or not she goes. Eventually she will tinkle and praise her big time!! Some parents just start putting them in undies- thicker training undies so mess is not as bad, but sometimes they don't like the feel of it.

I started potty training my son about 2 weeks after he turned 20 months old. I bought a potty shortly after he turned one. I think that made it easier for him because it was already in the house and he was already familiar with it. He started sitting on it around 17 months(fully clothed) just because it was there or someone else was in the bathroom. Once he was 20 months old, I decided it was time. He could say "pee pee" and "booboo" when I changed his diaper, take his diaper and pants off and didn't cry when told to sit on the potty. It took me four days. I only used pull-ups on the first day and then decided to just let him naked on the bottom. There were a few accidents, but after twice of sitting and using the potty. He had it down. He was going completely on his own without any prompts from me. He got a small treat (raisin, gummy, marshmallow) and a sticker to put on his chart. I hope something from that helps. Good luck.

If you have a potty chair try letting her sit on it when ur using the bathroom. When I potty trained my son I had him sit on his potty every time I did so he saw that mommy had to too. I did this for about six mouths n he started going when I would have him sit. Then I just stopped using diapers n had him n underwear. He does have a few accidents. But I am a firm believer that kids airnt fully potty trained tell 5-6 my son has been out of diapers for over a year ( he's 3) n still has a few pee accidents

Can you tell us a little more? What is she doing now? Does she show interested in potty training? What things have you done, if anything? My big question is why do you want to start at 22 months? Some kids are ready at 22 months and some are not. If your child is not ready no matter what you do it is not going to work until they are ready. I babysit a little girl that their parents wanted to start potty training at 22 months. Well that girl is now 3 yrs old and still not potty trained!!!! She wears underwear but still goes pee and poop in them!
