How do I start him in a big boy bed?

I would like to get some ideas of what I can do to transition my child from a crib to a big boy bed without too much of a fight at night. He is a very strong willed child. Any suggestions?

My son is also very strong willed and super independent! With him I just one day took his crib down put up his toddler bed and that was it. I gave him the stuffed animals he slept with in his crib along with the blanket he had been using and put him to bed. He did great! He has always been a good sleeper and fairly adaptable though. He especially loved that he was able to get in and out of his bed all by himself. Good luck and go with your gut you know your child best!

Just take the crib away and give him his bed....I would not recomend starting the habbit of sitting with him or you will be stuck in that for ages. You can take super nannys advice and the first time do your bedtime routine and give hugs and kisses, the second time he gets up just say it's time for bed, and from the third time on just put him back to bed. It will work just stick to it for a few days. I am also not a fan of locking or gateing your kids in their rooms.

Well, for my boys we put a baby gate in the door way and they just played until they were tired and either got into bed or fell asleep on the floor... With our twin girls, we usually sit in their room until they fall asleep. I take in a book with a book light so that I can read, their dad usually just falls asleep in the chair for a bit...
