How do I start to Potty Train?

Okay ladies, it's about that time for me to get all the tips and advice I can get on potty training a boy! My son is 27 months and showing all the signs of being ready to potty train. He comes to me and tells me "eeeew" when he's poopy and is getting into the habit of taking off his pants and diaper when he's wet. This morning he woke up DRY after a full 10 hours of sleep! Then he came to me this morning with his diaper off and poop on his butt! He had taken off his diaper and pooped on his bedroom floor!

It is time to potty train! So my question for all of you, How did you do it? Having any tips and advice for a first time potty trainer?

We've had his potty chair out in the bathroom since he turned one, so for him, it was already part of the bathroom. When we started potty training, we'd have him sit in the chair every 10 minutes, so he could try to go. We also created incentive by setting up a reward system for every successful pee in the potty. We even upped the ante when he pooped in the potty. You can read more about how we did it (and so many things we did wrong) in this blog post:

It was definitely an experience in trial and error. Every kid is different, so just take his lead and don't put too much presssure on him or yourself! Good luck!!!

Start by letting him sit on a potty chair when he isn't needing to go. Let him get used to it. At that age a book might come in handy, and most of all BE DILIGENT! Try lots, even if he says he doesn't need to go. Lots of praise for trying, even if there is no output.

My daughter is 29 months old and has been going on the toilet all day, pull ups at night. I have to keep her in undies or she will just get lazy and go in a diaper.
