How do I stop my 5 and 7 yr old from going into rooms that they don't belong in?

I live with my parents and they are truck drivers so they are gone most of the time and their room stands empty. My children like to go in there the day after they leave and play around in there. I have done everything I can think of to stop them, short of taking something of theirs permenantly and putting a lock the door ( my dad doesn't like locks on bedroom doors). My mom is getting very irritated about, so I am looking for some good advice. Thanks.

I would put a lock on the door and each time they go in there take something away. If it's not working you probably are not being consistent or they are not experiencing the right consequences. Taking things away permanently might be what is necessary. Good Luck!

do u have a time out step for them or anything? if my boys do something they arent supposed to they go on the time out step. a minute for every yr of their life. if they get off it, its an extra minute added onto their already given times. give it a try c how it goes =)
