Nuby makes a good transition one and so does Avent. Both are soft spout and a great start. Throw out the bottles and don't give in. You give a bottle back once and it's all down hill from there and it will never happen until he's ready...don't make it harder on you then it already will be.
I wish you luck! It can be difficult some times.

Find a soft top sippy cup and start him with that. It is kinda like a bottle but a little like a sippy cup.... he will be able to transition more easily to a sippy cup and may not miss his bottle so much. Good luck!

Rachel i had to laugh when i saw the bottle fairy! Your son got ripped off big time,....lose the bottle and get a potty!LOL I love this idea so much! I'll have to try it with my daughter soon. She's 10 months and isn't too keen on the sippy yet but i till have 2 months to change her...it's gonna be a struggle fro sure with her. She's defiantly my child! Very stubborn lol. I'm also going to try the post above yours for potty training...i ran out lol. My son is a battle now for potty time.

At 12 months, the only thing we allowed our girls to have in their bottle was water. Anything else was in a sippy. Didn't take long for either of them to stop asking for the baba. (days, not weeks)

Consistency is a must!

Get rid of the bottles, and use a sippy cup that does not leak. Not all sippy cups are equal!
It was hardest with our oldest, but the next in line saw her brother drinking from a sippy cup, and she wanted to be older like him. Just be firm. Good luck!

I know for me... I tried EVERY single sippy cup out there and my twins would not take ANYTHING! Finally when they were almost 2...my Daycare and I talked about it and decided to slowly give them less and less in their bottles. We went from 8 oz to 6 oz to 4 oz to 2 oz and then 1 oz. By that time, they were like ok, its gone what else can I drink? It took me another month or so before they would drink milk out of their sippy cups, but even today, they will ONLY take sippy cups with the straws. Hopefully that helps... Just be patient! That is one thing I wasn't and it didn't help things any... LoL

I did it like the tooth fairy... the bottle fairy....

"mommy got a call this morning from the bottle fairy, it seems that there have been an onslaught of baby births and there's not enough bottles! so tonight, we're putting all of your bottles in a gift bag for the bottle fairy, and she said she'd have a surprise for you being such a big boy and sharing with the babies of the world! (I gave my son a singing potty)"

so then you make a big to do about it, get all the bottles shined up "for the new babies" and put them in a nice gift bag. Make sure you have him find his surprise first thing, and give him a sippy cup with some really yummy juice (like kerns strawberry nectar) and explain that even though he might miss his bottle sometimes, he's being a very brave young man for giving them away.

Good Luck!

We started with Nuby silicone teether sippy cups so its like a bottle just a different shape... then after a month we went to the store and i let her pick out her own sippy cups (insulated gerber ones) and its been two months with no bottle!

where hes older you can get him the gerber straw cups too. we have one and she loves to drink her juice out of it. once you get the bottle of the daytime routine its a lot easier to get it out of the night time routine too!! good luck :)

just throw it away and dont look back, i got my son off the bottle when he was 14 mo, it wasnt easy but u just gotta find something to replace the comfort of it, like i used to give my son a bottle at bedtime to help him to sleep but after learning that drinking milk at bedtime rotts their teeth plus he was gettin too old for it anyway, one day i decided to just throw them all away, and instead of giving him a bottle at bedtime i started reading to him at bedtime, he will be 2 in august and he still loves it, hope this helps, good luck!
