My daughter has been throwing massive tantrums over small things and I don't know what to do other than time out...any advice?

It's a battle, especially with a willful child, I do alot of re-directing, no time-outs, I believe time-outs are a power stuggle, it's not fun but sometimes you have to sit through it, My son used to throw the biggest fits when it was bedtime, I mean HUGE, I had to sit through and not react, I learned that form the SuperNanny, lol it works, I just stuck to my guns and when it was bedtime, it was bedtime, With toys, It might help if you see one coming to try and nip it in the bud early, like ok well 15 more minutes and the toy gets put up, then after 10 minutes, then say 5 more minutes and the toy gets put up, then after the 15 minutes, put the toy or whatever the situation and stick to it, I felt with time outs children until they are older, don't really know why they are in time-out, I hope that helps you :)

always put her in a safe place where she can't hurt herself, and be very cool about it. don't put her on time out for putting tantrums. It's developmental for toddlers. Be patient and pretend that it's not happening, but watch out because they get hurt sometimes when they lose themselves.

it kind of depends on her age, My daughter is almost 2, she does the same thing. i try alot of different things, i have put her in her bed for time out, she used to forget what she did wrong, cuz she was not old enough to think about what she had done wrong, distract her is a big winner for me. I try to distract her with anything, and that seems to help. Good Luck
