Hello Bonnie K, Kristina S. and anyother mom at loose ends,
I am so sorry to hear that you have had such a bad go of it for so long. This post I am going to talk about the tantrums that your baby is throwing. My daughter throws mini ones when her diaper/pull up has poop in it.

I have gottan her out of throwing them except every once in a great while, usually when she is sick and cranky anyway.

What I did was made her take a seat and stay there until she is quiet and calm. the first few times it is very loud but hang in there it WILL pay off.

She knows that unless she is still and quiet she will not get changed.

Now as for just the wiggles, squiggles, and squirms......I have always found that the best three things I have used and still use today are:
1: favorite blanket
2. favorite stuffed animal
3. favorite toy and then the last ditch effort is done with
4. something of mine that they are in love with aka keys (extra set i had made), phone (the latest old one I have from upgrading), any other item I may have that they just really love.

Hope this works and/or is usful for you and anyone else that reads this as well.

Kerry

Ha ha ha, I thought I was the only one who had a wiggly worm at home, but really I just recite the ABC's with him sing a song and by the time the little song is over the diaper is on.

Someone once told me to buy a small toy that he can only play with while he is getting his diaper changed. It will hold his interest while he's getting changed and then you put it away for the next time he gets changed. The only time he plays with it is when he is being changed so it doesn't become boring quickly.

I pretend we are having a race to see how quickly Mommy can change his diaper. It makes him giggle and distracts him from the fact we are actually chaning a diaper.

give him something to play with or something that will distract him we have to do that normally we will give him something that he isnt really allowed to play with like a cell phone or something or maybe some butt cream

My 10 month old has the same problem. I give him something to play with like a Wipe or the Desitin tube to play with. GOOD LUCK ;)

When you figure it out, let me know! I've been dealing with nightmare diaper changes since my son was 7 months old-- He's now 13 months old and it's only getting worse. Not only is he squirming/running away, he throws a tantrum when I have to change him. Dirty diapers are a nightmare. I've tried just about everything, toys, noise, TV... Notta works. Good luck!!!!
