Maybe but you seem on the right track. Consistency is the key. Keep on it and he will eventually get it.

Usually the signs are if he can stay pretty much dry through the night. Does he want out of a dirty diaper right away? Is he curious about what goes on in the bathroom? When I potty trained my oldest son I had him go right to the potty first thing in the morning and right before bed. Also checking if he had to go every 20 mins (extending the time as he got better) or so. Having him sit on the potty if he had to go or not just to get him use to it. Have some of his favorite books near by. I don't recommend toys for obvious reasons lol. Good luck and congrats on your son reaching a new milestone!

u sound like me by son is 20 months he will be 2 in september i was gon start then but what made me decide to start now is because he is really smart for his age and starting to go through his huggies fast and u know the older and bigger they get the less u get.. so i said im tired of buying diapers lol..me and my husband agreed to just introduce him to it. I recently started yesterday and so far so good he sits on it but soon as he gets up he goes poop or pee lol but he says uh oh so i think he starting to identify what the potty is for..
as for your son i would say to just try it out and just talk to him u know kind of make a a routine so he familiar, definitely dont force it and when he goes reward him by cheering and with like a cookie or fruit snack(i prefer not candy)! also ask friends and family they can give u tips and these days u can google lol

hope i helped you good luck!
