How long should you breast feed for?
With my first born it was only a week
(I couldnt get the hand pump to work it leaked everywhere so I couldn't keep up and was going to school)
With my second born it was for 7 weeks
(and I got so stressed out with all the things that were going on in my life that my milk dried up on me and I had to stop)
this time around I have plenty of bottles and an electric breastpump to help me out. of course I'll always have a can of formula handy just incase. but how old is too old to breastfeed for?

How ever long you are comfortable with like the others said. My son weaned himself at 10 months and my middle daughter at 15 months. I usually make my goal for a year and go from there.

I agree with the others. It's different for every nursing pair. You should nurse as long as you and your child want to. No one else's opinion matters as long as you and baby are happy continuing.

As Sara said how ever long you are the baby are comfortable. I nursed my oldest for 3 months I was told to quit by the dr when I was pregnant I was young didn't know better. The next it was for about 2 months he didnt get full so I started to supplement and just ended up going to formula. The next was about 7 months when I hit my second trimester the he refused, his doctor said the change in the milk. my daughter 2.5 years. I got tired of getting bit and quit I have a feeling if I didnt she would still be nursing at 7 lol,

Point is do what works for you there is no blanket answer. the longer the better,

Good Luck

However long both mom and baby are comfortable with it. The AAP recommends at least one year. The WHO recommends at least two years.

With my oldest, I weaned at 11 months. My youngest is nursing at 4 months old. I plan to nurse at least a year and probably more.
