I Got really bad stretchmarks during my pregancy and i hated them, thighs, belly, hips, boobs, backs of knees.. 3 and a half years on they are going from everywhere but my lower tummy and hips.... any tips to get rid, desguise, soffen.. etc would be great but most of all how did the stretchmarks affect you? I use the sunbeds to hide mine and it helps..

I really lucked out and didn't get them anywhere but my boobs... but I think all of the stretchmarks I should have gotten on my belly ALL went to my boobs! I started using the palmers stuff on my belly almost from the time I found out I was preggo, but didn't think to put it on my boobs! And then they blew up like balloons and before I knew it they were covered in stretchmarks. I've read everywhere there isn't much you can do to prevent getting them, but still. In fact my boobs are my biggest complaint about my body since having my 7 month old (well that, and my lack of ab muscles... but I'm taking a pilates class soon!). I'm a small girl (5'3" somewhere around 110 lbs) so big boobs don't look good on me AT ALL, they make me look way bigger than I am. I'm still breastfeeding though and I hope they will go back down after I'm done. Of course they'll be flat, yuck.

But I try to view all the negative changes as just a necessary part that comes along with being a mother... and my beautiful little boy! Motherhood is not for wimps.

[deleted account]

I've been told if you're gonna get them there's nothing you can do about it!! However, stay very moistuized & I find the sunbeds help to minimize the appearance as well, after pregnancy of course!! Over time they are not as prominent in color & what not. Looking @ stretch marks as a trophy for all of your beautiful children is quite healthy....we can't all be Heidi Klum!!

I use to feel the same way but you know somethin now I look at them as a beauty marks . Reminders of the most wonderful times in my life. i loved being prego, feelin the baby move and kick. As time goes by they will fade so don't worry to much about it. Mine kinda reminds me of frames they're kinda neat!! lol

I have stretch marks on my legs, stomach and hips. I really don't like them, even though they are faded abit and its only been 6month. I had a big baby at 9lb 3oz as im only just 5ft and my partner 6ft 3in i spose i was destined to have a big baby and lots of stretch marks! I use bio oil when i can but don't think owt will really work! My partner says he doesnt think there as bad i make out but i do as my body was a slim 8 and looked good now ive got my left over bit of weight and stretch marks that look ugly. I can't say i love them but I wouldnt change them for the world as i have the most perfect little girl and i also just try to think of them as little scars that loads of men and women have so!

Hiya!
It's strange because although I find them horrible to look at, almost feels like there some kind of disformaty on my body...I also look at them as "battle scars", a badge of honour or corny as it sounds, an added detail to the map which is my body. CORRRRNNY! Anyway, I am having cellulite treatments done, it's meant to help tighten the skin around the stretchmarks, thus they start to fade. It's the treatment where they wrap you up in plastic making you look like a chicken drumstick! :) On top of it the fact that it helps my stretch marks fade it gets rid of the extra skin and babyfat thats still lingering. Coconut oil and body creams with tanning lotions are good too. I personally wouldn't use a sunbed due to the health risks involved but some real sun or vitamin D will help your skin too. Good luck with your stretchmarks :)

[deleted account]

I got em on my hips, thighs, boobs, and tummy. I thought I was gonna get away without any on my tummy and then about a week before I gave birth they just showed up! Haha I think it happened when my baby dropped. Anyways, I was kind of bummed in the beginning but now, 13months later, I don't really care all that much. They're fairly faded but I can still see them (mostly because I know they're there). But to have this beautiful child, it's well worth it! :)

I've only worn a bikini about 5 times in my life. Honestly, I've never been comfortable in them. I wear one-piece bathing suits, and they do make them that accentuate the bust (which are the ones I wear)... but really I don't have a "bathing suit body" (whether one-piece or bikini) by most people's standards, so it doesn't bug me either way.

[deleted account]

all the moms that have stretch marks, i just want to know do you swim with bikinis or full costumes? i feel like every one is looking strange at me when i wear a full costume because i am still young and only have one child.

[deleted account]

Hi there Stephannie, i also got ugly stretch marks on my hips, tummy, thighs and i hate my body because of it.i hear that sun bed is not that good for you.is there no other way we can hide it? i used to wear bikinis and now i have to wear full costumes and i hate it a lot.i am only 24 years old and have stretch marks already.i also want to look sexy in thight clothes without worrying any body would notise my stretch marks, any advise?

I have them on my belly, breasts, thighs and I'm sure there are more that I haven't seen yet! They aren't pretty but they don't really bother me. I never had a "bikini" body so I don't mind hiding my stretch marks. I do feel like they are a badge of honor and something I can't really do anything about. They do fade after a while, but will always be there to remind us of how much our bodies can change.

I have really bad ones on my lower tummy from both of my children I look at them like this they are my battle scars and honestly I don't even notice them anymore and don't be ashames of them either you dealt with birth and having that little person grow inside of you so that is nothing to be ashamed of..I even go as far as still wear a two piece bathing suit at the beach and rock them marks..they are pretty deep just hold your head up and be proud

I only have them on my tummy. I hate them. I used to Cocoa Butter with my first and they didn't apear untill the very end of the pregnancy. I hate them, they are awful, and no matter what I tell myself they still make you feel ugly and horrible! Yes I tell myself that they are there because of my amazing little boys, but that can only work for so long. My husband says he has no problem with them *but honestly, what's he gonna say? Ewww...your gross?* lol. One of my besties has 3 boys just like me, and she has ONE stretch mark! She is sooooo freakin skinny!!! Makes me mad, lol. I tell her all the time to shut up talking about her ONE stretch mark! She thinks it's awful that she has ONE...Anyway, I honestly think the only thing that will make them go away is like a tummy tuck or something along those lines. The tanning bed seems to make mine fade as well, I just don't have much time to lay anymore.

I gained 50 lbs when I was pregnant and have some serious stretch marks on my tummy, along with some lesser ones on my hips and upper thighs. I also have the tummy wiggle. lol. I joke that it feels like pudding. I don't like the stretch marks and extra weight, but I keep telling myself that its a small price for my absolutely beautiful little girl. My fiancee calls the stretch marks my "battle scars".

Also, something I was told shortly after having my daughter regarding the extra baby weight and loose skin: 9 months on, 9 months off. I'm still waiting to see if that's true since my daughter is just shy of 5 months. :)

[deleted account]

i never had a stretch mark in my life till i got pregnant with my son an gained 63 lbs an now i have about 50 on my stomach i wasnt ok with them in the beginning but now i look at them like there my battle wounds an i wouldnt have my stomach look sny other way

Stretch marks are definatly tough on your self esteem! I didn't get any untill I was 7 months pregnant and up untill then I was so happy and then BAM. Luckily the only places I got them were on my lower tummy, hips, boobs, and strangly two right at the top of my butt! haha. The ones on my tummy are really thick though, so I know they'll never go away.. the tough part is the almost cottage cheese feel to them though! My son is only 3 months old, so I know I just have to give them time but geez.. I'm getting impatient! haha. DEFINATLY a one piece this summer! =[

I have stretch marks on my belly, love handles, boobs, thighs and arms. They won't go away, but fade over time. As far as the wobble, I had that too. I am 5'3" and weigh 112 pounds, and still wobbled. Worked out every day and dieted, it wouldn't go away. My doc said it wouldn't because it was just skin nit fat, I had a tummy tuck 2 years ago, and now have great abs, but still stretch marks and a hip to hip scar. But I am still proud. I have three beautiful children to show for it, and the tummy tuck helped my self esteem with my husband, he loves it too.

I didn't get stretch marks until I had my second son. I used Vitamin E oil that I purchased at Wal-Mart. It worked really well with the first one...I didn't get one stretch mark except two small ones on my upper thigh, which was the only place I didn't rub the oil. I used it after every shower and sometimes at night before bed. I used it with my second pregnancy as well, but I ran out for like two weeks and just forgot to buy more...I got stretch marks on my stomach in that time. I was so upset...I am hoping they will go away. I still use the oil and I am also going to try Palmer's lotion (I think that is what it is called). Still, it will be a one-piece for me this summer!!

yep. I had twins my first time. I used a cream, but still got tiger stripes everywhere. tummy, breast, thighs, hips

They were bright red and purple at first, but a year later, they were pale and silvery. The skin is damaged, the big ones can't be repaired by cream or whatever, the little tiny ones, maybe. The only other way to remove them is surgery, but then you've still got scars. so. :)

come on. they're a badge of honor. I don't wear two-piece swim suits anyway.

I've read that around 90% of women will get them, and they won't permanantly go away without a doctor's help (ie-surgery or different procedures). You can hide them, but I haven't researched how to do that.

I love my stretch marks. I used to tell people that I got mauled by a tiger! You'd be amazed at how many people will actually believe that I talked my way into having somebody let me into the tiger's cage at the zoo or circus and got mauled!!! I have them everywhere, too. Arms, legs (inside and out), belly, chest.

Those are my battle scars from bringing another life into the world. I've had miscarriages in the past, so I wear every scar and stretch mark proudly.

[deleted account]

I bought the expensive stuff from Bath and Body when I was pregnant and started using it as soon as I started showing but I still got really bad stretch marks. After I had her I started using Palmer's Cocoa Butter from Wal-Mart and after a week I had already noticed a difference! It's even helped the scar from my c-section! You should try it.

I didn't get them until my third and fourth kids. (don't hate me!) I was underweight with my first two. With my last two I was older, heavier and just didn't care what I ate as much. I gained less weight then I did with child num 2 but got the lines on my hips and belly. I hate them. My dh loves them. He said that "only his love would have stretch marks from carrying his children" While that is nice and all, I can't stand them.

So far nothing has helped but keeping clothes on and not looking when clothes are off. lol

I have the same problem. I have stretchmarks EVERYWHERE. My feelings about them are that I EARNED every single one of them and if someone has a problem about it oh well. They didn't carry 2 children and deliver them and then the weight gain that comes from taking care of your kids before yourself. . . . All in all, I'm ok with mine :-)))

I have so many... esp on my stomach (and boobs, but those don't bother me as much as wanting a little buoyancy back ha). I was expecting some but not like this! My body's almost completely back to how it was before (well, ok, I have ridiculous love handles. Who knew I'd turn into a muffin-top? Good lord) So any hope of wearing a bikini anytime soon is a definite negative. I wouldn't do that to other people. Anyway, I've always heard it depends on how your mom was with stretch marks--whether you'll get them when you're preggo, how long it'll take them to fade, and if anything works to make them fade. I've discussed this w other friends, and they've all agreed with that. My mom had horrendous stretch marks and nothing made them better except time, and even then, it's not too pretty. The one thing that makes me feel better is that there are SO many moms out there who have stretch marks and understand. I'm not alone, so as gross as this may look, my body is actually pretty normal. I have a few moms I hang out w that have stretch marks just as bad as mine. This may sound petty, but it makes me feel better hanging out with them than with my single friends who have perfect bodies. I also think I'll avoid the beach this year. But next year, with the help of cover-up... watch out. As a side note, I'd like to comment on how nice it'd be if there was a moms-only beach in every state so we can flaunt our stretch marks and not have to worry that we're going to scare younger girls into not ever wanting babies. As an ending remark, I'd say not to get your hopes up on any creams; I've read in all kinds of articles how none really work. Buying one is like buying yourself a bottle of sinking hope and utter despair. I think we just have to come to love our stretch marks. :)

I have them bad. My first stretched me out really bad. I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked so I gave up. My second pregnancy I only got small tips on the the first ones. I can't think of anything that works. I just kinda think of them as my "trophy" for having beautiful girls.

I didnt get them on my tummy in my 1st preg, it was the 2nd when i didnt moisterise and i didnt notice them until it was too late, i hate them but its been 18mths and they are slowly starting to fade

I know exactly how you feel.Unfortunately my skin was not made for stretching!

My stomach and hips look like I was attacked by a lion. They also go down my inner thighs and a few on my boobs. I developed them while pregnant with my son (1st child) at 7 mths of pregnancy.Up until then I thought I was doing great. I used cocoa butter everyday too. They did fade after about a year, but they will never go away. I have heard of lazer treatments that are supposed to fade them a bit but still doesn't ever get rid of them, and I have heard of a product called bio oil that is supposed to help but I haven't tried it so I don't know. I really doubt any creams or oils will make a difference unless you have little scarring. I hope my experience has made you feel a bit better about yours. Good Luck!
