my 5 yo girl just finished her school yr today... now i have to find ways to entertain her, she loves watching tv. so i thought it'd be ok to allow 1 hour of tv per day, IF she behaves and picks up her toys and all that. and (i still don't know why) i asked my bf is he thought it was ok, he complains he has no say in their upbringing (thought i'd give him a chance) he says "1 h of tv per day on vacations is TOO little, she needs more tv!"
i completely disagree!!! i just know that on his days off he's gonna sit her infront of the tv as soon as the sun comes up!
i'm tired of fighting over stuff like this but i really don't think watching 2 or 3 hs of tv a day is healthy at all.
ANY SUGGESTIONS??

does she sit and watch or does she play with toys and be active? I try to limit the amount of tv, but especially lately my kids are watching a little more. I'm almost out of my first trimester but the nausea is so bad that moving is out of the question. So to keep them quiet and happy, the tv is on. That should change in a few weeks*fingers crossed*

I think it depends what she is watching. If they are educational shows where she is learning things than a little more won't hurt. Some people have their TV on all day and their children turn out just fine.

1 hr a day is plenty. She doesn't NEED tv at all, but a little bit as a treat or down time is fine. My kids spend most of their summer outside playing and running off the boundless energy they have. Even on rainy days, I find it better for them if they play with play dough, color, play board games/puzzles, read, or just have free time playing with their toys. I would tell your bf, that that is just simply way too much.

I would say if you can get her busy and involved in other activities that her watching tv will not be an issue. somewhat depends on how much you want to fight your boyfriend on the issue. a couple of days of little activity will not hurt her....
