Right from day one. Especially if they are formula fed...babies need water just like we do. You can get away with nursing w/o giving water, but sugar water helps babies' complexions and is a great way to get them sleeping through the night. Obviously if they aren't gaining weight well you want to give them formula or breastmilk before water...but don't be afraid to give water. Our bodies are made up of 45-75% water. The current "expert" ideas are just plain crazy. I've raised six children and gave all of them sugar water...very healthy grown adults...millions of babies have had water and sugar water from day one and "all of a sudden" it's not good to give your babies water. Yeah, right! lol

I have heard that you can give water (about 2oz) around 4 months old...when they are about 6 months you can try to get them to drink the water out of a sippy cup.

boiled water anytime but if its from the tap not untill their 12 months but i still give my daughter filtered water n shes 18 months u can get filter jugs from k mart bout 30$ but dont 4get 2 change the filter.

4 months. Thats when i started giving my daughter water, jucie, and baby food.
