let them help with preparing meals, children are more likely to enjoy what they eat and want to eat if they helped make it. i let my two year old help with washing vegetables and fruits and adding ingrediants. he loves it and is a wonderful eater. also you could get artistic and make faces with the food like a smiley face or broccli as trees and melted cheese drapped over them. also let them help u grocery shop and make the shopping list. involve them and there less likely to refuse what they know. good luck

well, if my son decides he doesn't want to eat something.. i tell him that if he eats it, it will help him to grow Big and Strong! and then he's like "COOL!" and then continues to eat.. that's how we got him to eat Raw onions!

My kids (3-years old and 2-years old) typically do not eat snacks between meals (which has helped the most), and they eat pretty well at meal time. I have yet to try it, but I have heard the suggestion to just throw their food in the trash (and let them see you do this) if they don't want to eat the meal, and let them know that there will be nothing but water until the next meal. When I even mention throwing their food in the garbage, they say, "no..." and begin to eat.

My children also go through times when they eat really well (growth spurts) and other times when they don't seem quite as hungry. When they aren't hungry, they don't care if they don't get any dessert or food until the next meal. It isn't a big deal to them... they just aren't hungry. We don't eat dessert EVERY meal, but I'd say we have dessert once a day.

I have 4 boys, which are very active. But there will be times where they wont eat. Kids usually eat when they're hungry, I think if you try to make them eat, it might cause problems for later. I wouldn't worry about it! You wont eat if your not hungry, same with kids.

Take away snack and extra drinks other than water that fills them up with non-nutrious stuff. Hide healthy stuff in every day food like adding carrots in the meatloaf or encouraging veggies and their favorite dip. And lastly don't let them leave the table until they have eaten at least 3 more bites.

I too have kids that don't eat....I mean they are very poor eaters and very picky. I often cook the dishes they like over and over and over again just so they will eat. I also use receipes from Deceiptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfield to try and make them healthy there are a couple of dishes in there like mashed potaoes w/cauliflower that they like.
