How to get my daughter to quit nursing?

My daughter turned 2 in March and I have never had a problem breaking any of my other 4 children, including a set of twins from nursing. She only gets it at bedtime and once in awhile in the middle of the night. If I don't let her nurse she screams so loud that my brother in law and sister in law that live 3 doors away can hear her. As an infant, she completely refused a bottle. She only ever had literally 3 bottles. I know they say she'll quit when she's ready but has anyone else ever had this issue? Thanks for your feedback!

I was at the point you are with my first when I had to stop nursing her (as it was a preterm labor risk for me to continue). We stopped cold turkey. Had to totally change the bedtime routine, offered her a cup with milk while reading her stories, and got her a new nightlight. Took about 2 weeks for her to totally settle in to the new routine. The hardest part was soothing her if she woke at night.

Many mums will take a short vaca at this point - 2-3 nights away so she can't nurse at all - and she might not even put up a fuss about it if you are gone. And when you come back, just don't start again.

Sounds like she is strong willed for sure. Children like adults like to have some control, this seems to be one thing she can control. Maybe try by giving her choices. "You may have this food or mommies milk". A food she really likes. Good luck!
