I have twin boys (5 months old), they wake at 7 a, I feed some porridge and a bottle, playtime and down for a nap about 8.45 am they ally wake between 9.30 and 10am. Feed pureed veg and bottle 10.30am then down for a nap at about 11.15/11.30am they wake after only 45 minutes but after only being awake for half an hour are already ratty and need to be put down for another nap before they are fed at 2.30 pm I would like to extend this nap any suggestions? they sleep in their cot and self soothe when go to sleep I just cant seem to get them to get into that deeper sleep in the afternoon

Thanks

It seems to be going well they woke at 11 between 20 mins of each other fed and will put down soon for a nap and should hopefully wake for their feed at about 2pm I feel like I have changed it already it's a great feeling ! Finally success !! What did you do when going out and driving around I'm worried that if they drop off to sleep too soon it will mess up the routine ??

Good luck!! I know it is tough when babies start to change nap times. I actually found it the most difficult when I had to cut naps altogether. That one was tricky!!

Thanks for your reply I think your right about knocking that little nap out what I've done is kept them up longer this morning instead of putting them down at 8.30 ish I put them down about 9.20am so they shouldn't want to sleep at 11.15, I will keep you posted fingers crossed !

I think you should cut the 11:30 nap (it could be tricky keeping them awake at first - maybe you can feed them just a little later) and try to just put them down at about 12:30. This might help them sleep longer.

After they wake at about 12.15 I end up putting them back down about 1/1.30 for an hour, I feed them at 2.30 and then they have half an hours nap about half 4 before tea at 5pm I really want them to just have the 3 naps one short one morning a longer one in the afternoon as I'm guessing they need it as they get ratty soon after waking and then another short one late afternoon, do you think I'm expecting them to nap too much? I think holding them out maybe a good idea I just worry they will get over tired ? Thanks for the reply

Are they still napping 3 times a day? They may be just about ready to drop the 3rd nap, which means you might want to drag out this nap time for a while longer and just condense into two naps a day. Try putting them down a bit later. The important part is getting around 3 hours of napping a day.
