How to get rid of the dummy?

My daughter is coming up to 4 months old, and she can go to sleep during the day without the dummy, but when it comes to settling down for the evening sleep and when she wakes during the night, we use the dummy. It is because it is easier to do, than listen to her cry, as my husband works and he wants his sleep. What can I do?

Yes, a dummy is a pacifier (we call them dummies/dummy in NZ). I found some interesting tips on dummies/pacificers on a website www.ohbaby.co.nz, under the baby header, so I will try a couple of them tonight.

I can only suggest to you try and take it away completly.....you have a few nights of no rest but your daughter will soon find something else to soothe herself with. I did it with my daughter and it worked...good luck hope this helps a bit
