My son is 15 months old and boy can he throw tantrums. I usually just ignore him and he'll stop for a minute, look at me to see if i'm paying attention and when i am he'll do it more. When i'm not (even though i can still see him without looking directly at him,,he doesnt know it) then he'll stop. I don't pay too much attention to it unless he's actually hurting himself. Sometimes he'll bang his head on the wall or floor, i'll step in at this point and move him to a different area and try to occupy him with something else. But, usually just flat out "ignoring" him while he's throwing a fit will make him stop. Kids get frustrated and have to let it out somehow.

I would say yes, if it works, he's probably just after attention, just make sure he cant hurt himself when he launches himself on to the floor, and maybe try and distract him, these are phases sent to test us, and they usually succeed, my two yr old is spitting at the moment, its disgusting, I cant tape up his mouth!, so am just telling him its wrong and distracting as best as I can, hope this helps, HAN
