How to stop toddler from eating sand?

My daughter is 15months and she eats sand. sand/playbox sand, beach sand, etc. She seems to LOVE it, and tries to (and often succeeds) eat it every day (we have a sandbox on our deck). My son never did this so I am not sure where to go with this. We try to discourage her but she does not really care at this point. Any tricks to turn her off of it or will I just need to wait for her to grow out of it? She has sand in her bowel movements often which isn't easy on a soft baby bottom - help!

My daughter did this. I couldnt find anything to stop her either. I just had to keep telling her yucky and taking her out. If i removed her from the outside she would get upset so i would say " No you ate the sand so we had to ocme in" She finally caught on and stopped. Good luck!

I would talk to her doctor about this. She may have pica. Which is eating non-edibles. Especially if it's in her BM.
