I just found out today that I have hypothyroidism & it has been the cause of me gaining a significant amount of weight (50 lbs in less than a year). I'm so happy to finally know what is wrong with me because for awhile I had gotten really depressed over it. My doctor prescribed me some medication that will help me lose weight quick and easy but said I should still work out and eat healthier. My issue is that we have a gym that's close by but it's hard to go because I have a 14-month-old son and I don't feel comfortable taking him with me and there's no one else who can watch him. I workout inside our house but there's too many distractions so I haven't done it as much. My question is to anyone who may have had this problem: what workouts helped you slim down, what foods did you eat to shed some of the pounds, and did any medications work and if so were you happy with the results?

My favorite thing to do is play Just Dance on the Wii. I do about 10 songs and work up a real sweat. It's great cardio and super fun to do alone (with people too, but for exercise I don't want anyone watching). I also sometimes do the Wii Fit for toning. I don't know if you have a Wii or believe in them, but it's the way I'm getting in shape after having a baby while having a good time. I have a 5 month old and before him I struggled to exercise.
