I know that when you get pregnant your body makes extra blood and other stuff for the baby therefore increasing the amount of fluid you urinate. However, I have to go sometimes 2 to 3 times in one hour. Plus when I go sometimes I get sharp pains in my lower abdomen and my back has been aching for a couple days. Should I be worried or is this normal?

Sounds like a possible bladder infection. You do have to urinate more often when you are pregnant, but the combination of 2-3 times per hour and pain is a pretty sure sign of infection.
When I was pregnant I usually had to go about once every 2-3 hours up until I was about 8 months along and then it was probably once an hour or so, but both my girls were laying in a position where they were putting serious pressure on my bladder and kidneys.

Although it is normal to urinate a lot during pregnancy, it is not normal to have those types of pains. You will find that you will have pains and be uncomfortable in your third trimester, but not now.

It is normal to urinate alot during pregnancy but the pain you are feeling would make me think you might have a urinary tract infection which is also really common during pregnancy if I were you I would go and see your doctor and have them test you for a uti just incase cause if you let it go on for to long you can end up with a kidney infection which is no fun at all.

I agree with Mary. Lower back pain can be kidney issues. Go to the dr before it gets too bad!

sounds like a possible bladder infection. Go see a Dr, If it is you need to get on antibiotics before the infection gets into the kidneys.

yes you need to go to the doctor. I've had lots of bladder infections/ urinary tract infections and this sounds like it may be headed to the kidneys. I used to let bladder infections go when I wasn't pregnant (because of $) and with this pregnancy I found out I had an infection in my urin (had no pains or symptoms). That was really wierd and think it might have been from letting all those uti's go for too long. Anyway, they will put you on antibiotics.

Thank you all, I went to the doctor today and you were right. I have a bladder infection, and if it had not been for the community I would have waited to my next scheduled appointment before saying anything. So thanks so much for the information.

I started to pee quite a bit out of no where around 12 weeks pregnant. However, the pains aren't normal. I agree with the rest, tell the doc! :)
